The project provides the setting up and the evaluation of a new methodology of intervention for the in situ conservation of some trunks of the Fossil Forest of Dunarobba, discovered in the territory of Avigliano Umbro (Umbria, Italy) and 1.5 million years old. More specifically, the project has considered the designing and assembling of a large climatic chamber to host some of trunks and the in situ application of a consolidating product formulated specifically for the trunks of Dunarobba. This product has been applied both on some elements within the climatic chamber and on other trunks directly exposed to weather. Other partners of the Project, in addition to the township of Avigliano Umbro, are the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici dell’Umbria, the CNR-ISTI (Institute of Information Science and Technologies “Alessandro Faedo”, Pisa), the Company Mapei SpA and the Company Angelantoni Industrie SpA.
