The project provides the setting up of a methodology for the conservation of the fragments of a piece of furniture covered by ivory ornamented with scenes, found during the excavations carried out at Villa dei Papiri, in Herculaneum. More specifically, the consolidation of this material is carried out by using sugar alcohols that, in addition to stabilisation, allow the subsequent re-gluing of ivory fragments detached during the burial of the artefact. Activities are carried out in cooperation with the Laboratory of Wood Anatomy, which coordinates the project for Ivalsa, and with the Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Napoli e Pompei.
