Action of climate change on tree pollen production

Climate change characterized by an increase in annual average temperature and or variation of weather patterns have an impact on tree species. Biotic processes as blossoming and pollen production can be affected as can be seen studying the tree collections maintained at IVALSA. The spreading of the pollen by trees is important for both plant yield and human health since more and more people suffer of allergic reaction. IVALSA in collaboration with Pharmallerga Company (Check Republic) started a research to study and evaluate the annual variation in pollen quantity and quality production of several woody species. The aim of the research is to find a method to calculate emission and protein content of the pollen before blossoming.
