COST Training School – Work study methodologies
Italian Academy of Forest Science, Florence – Nov.27th-Dec. 1st, 2011


Objectives
The 3rd COST Training School aims at developing work study skills among participating young scientists. Lessons will cover: theory of work studies, time study methods and practice, analysis of time study data, scientific reporting of work study results. In particular, the lessons will draw upon the recent COST Work Study Best Practice Guidelines, and will also serve as an introduction and a general test of the new COST method. In Italy, the event is hosted and organized by: CNR IVALSA, University of Florence, Italian Academy of Forest Science.

Programme outline
November 27th, Sunday – Arrival in Florence
November 28th, Monday – Lessons on Work study theory and methods
November 29th, Tuesday – Field day, collect time study data
November 30th, Wednesday – Analyse collected data and organize report
December 1st, Thursday – Conclusions, wrap-up and departure

The interested students and young scientists who wish to attend the Training School must send the following information by September 30th, 2011 to the Action Chair Dominik Röser (dominik.roser@metla.fi):

- Short description on the statistical background of the applicant
The Cost Action Management Committee will choose a maximum of 15 students that will be able to participate in the Training School. Applications from female Ph.D. students and young scientists are strongly encouraged and in the case of similar qualifications women are preferred.
